I will always be grateful to the Society for all of the support I have received over the years.

My father was born in 1904 and joined the Society in the 1940’s along with my mother. My sister and I joined from a young age and the Society soon became an important part of our life. I think this was because we lived in Gravesend and spent so much time at Anglo Saxons Hall. We celebrated my mum’s 60th and my 21st birthday there, along with other members from the local area.

The Hall has always been important to so many in our community. There were a range of weekly clubs and activities held there, like the Tuesday afternoon dance lessons and it was a great place to meet socially.

I always remember Dad talking about the ‘Christmas Club’ – he used to save a little each month and it really helped us to have a lovely Christmas without worrying about money. Today, the Dental and Optical benefit has been of great help to me. When I was hospitalised for several nights, I received £20 per night from the Society and this helped me to buy some much needed essentials.

When I was a young woman, Anglos helped me learn how to look after my money. I will always be grateful to the Society for all of the support I have received over the years.
